Stained glass chihuahua

All the doggy glass is cut, just need to cut his cushion now. Even without his facial features painted in you can certainly see who it is. The solder lines when finished will also emphasise his legs and general shape much better than they are at the moment, can you make out how he is sitting yet?
Very labour intensive and time consuming to cut the semi opaque glass, each piece has to have a template made first, this is then drawn onto the glass. Multiple cuts are then used to get the rough shape and it is finished down to its final size and shape on the grinder with constant reference to the template.
For all the effort he looks great though.

Chiauahuah

Now that 2014 has got her feet wet (very wet if you look at the flood meadows on the far side of the Wylie) I though it time to post a quick update.
The sweet pea window is still half cut (sounds familiar) and still waiting for final dimensions and we have another 2 windows to do after that. Not had time yet to start the "Starry Night" but hope to soon; have another stained glass course to arrange hopefully before the end of Jan and have just picked up a new commission for completion by early Feb.
I received several photos of the (almost) cutest dog on the planet; a very furry little chihuahua. The brief is just to make a really nice sun catcher for a best friend. Not easy this one. The shaggy fur in two very pale shades of brown will be hard to get right, and the whole character is in those big dewy eyes; get that wrong and it will look like a pug. So we decided to lie her on a cushion (that finishes the bottom nicely to fit the stand) and I will paint the eyes and other fine detail in. Did a good sketch of how she will look and rough shapes, then drew my cartoon from that. We have some beautiful wispy semi opaque whites and browns which will make a great background and a stunning deep purple water glass for the cushion.
Probably start cutting glass tomorrow.
